Years ago when people still made each other actual mix tapes, I got a couple that were pretty awesome and have survived all the purges of stuff and big moves. Recently I came across them again and wished I could listen to them. I don’t have and refuse to get a tape player again. I don’t have most of the songs in digital form, so I’m asking for help. (Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.)
If you have any of these songs in some digital format and wouldn’t mind kicking them down to me, I’d appreciate it. The ones crossed out I already have.
The first is one that Nate Duke made me after years of pestering him for a good mix of kind of indie hip hop stuff that I didn’t know about. I got it from him in 2002, I think.

The other is one that Emily Kruse made for me in 1997. We had met through our zines. She sent me this tape. We became pals. Traded letters and tapes like good zinesters are supposed to. I ended up becoming good friends with both of her younger sisters and dating one for a couple years, too. Emily grew up and moved on from the kid life, but this tape is a perfect cross section of what she was like in the mid to late 90’s. I still have this case and track listing but I’ve lost the tape, which sucks. But the part that really sucks is that the A-Side was a live recording of a show that Avail played at the Emerson in June of 1997. I’ll prolly never hear that again.
